Dieter Vanthournout founded bookU in 2018, inspired by his own experience as a student worker in the hospitality industry. His mission was to create a tool that would ease the administrative load of managing (temporary) staff. Soon after its launch, bookU and Liantis teamed up. Toon explains, “We offer many customers our digital solutions through My Liantis. However, there’s a specific group that needs a more comprehensive and efficient planning tool. These clients - mainly larger businesses - deserve complete solutions, and that’s where bookU comes in. With their digital workforce management tool for planning, administration, and time tracking, we can broaden our service offerings.”

Streamlining administration
The collaboration between Liantis and bookU was driven by shared customer needs. “Our tool includes a time tracking module,” says Dieter from bookU. “The digital time clock automatically calculates the hours worked by each employee. At the end of the month, that data needs to be accurately transferred to the payroll service. Thanks to our integration with Liantis, employers no longer have to manually input data from one system into another—it happens automatically. This eliminates a lot of repetitive work and makes the entire administrative process much smoother.”
Shared values
According to Toon, the My Liantis platform functions as a seamless ecosystem. “We develop our own features but also partner with trusted companies that complement us where needed. This creates a one-stop-shop, an integrated system where employers can find everything they need.”
“Our partners share the same values,” Toon continues. “Liantis is very close to its customers—literally, with a widespread network of offices, but also figuratively, by staying deeply involved in their needs. A customer advisor regularly checks in and serves as a trusted contact. We also involve customers in developing new products. We found the same approach at bookU: they also keep their customers close. Plus, we both value transparency in pricing, communication, and services, and we’re proactive in our approach.”
“We see the same trends among our customers,” Dieter adds. “Recently, there’s been a growing demand for support with temporary workers, like students and flexi-jobbers. To meet this need, we’re quickly implementing and optimizing new features, like the labor cost management module. bookU moves quickly—just like Liantis.”
Looking ahead
“Our partnership has grown very naturally over the years,” Dieter notes. “Take our joint offering for Colruyt Retail Partners, for example—it has evolved into a complete administrative solution.” “We’re eager to continue this momentum in the future,” Toon adds. “We have plans, both short and long-term, to take our integration to the next level. We aim to make our platforms even more synergistic so that employee data can be shared more effectively. And of course, we’ll keep an eye out for new opportunities to collaborate.”
